The perilous undertaking of M Margat upon which everyone went along with his wishes while regretting the unnecessary dangers and inglorious misfortunes was completed without incident. M Margat took off from Tivoli at quarter-past seven mounted on his deer Coco. The weather was calm. On making the ascent, the deer did not show any anxiety; it cast its eye upon on the brilliant company and seemed to take great pleasure in the repeated applause of the spectators. The change to a very great height seemed to concern it. The formation of a storm mixed with lightning decided the aeronaut to make his descent on the level field called des Bruyères three quarters of league away, where, still mounted upon his deer, he was led in triumph by the inhabitants to the mayor, who accorded him the best of receptions...'
